Dugem is Indonesian language short, lazy acronym of dunia gemerlap; its textual meaning is "a lightful world", but actually it refers to a night, entertained activities. People goes dugem in pub, discotique, or other well-known places for "burning money".
To most of blogger withouts home Internet connection, dugem for blogging is simply staying all night long in front of office's computer. Surely, first requirement is boss' rule to allow blogging in your office out of working time. Please be polite to ask him/her about this situation — demonstrate the benefit of blogging for all people in your office is a very incentive idea.
Let's go dugem. In every one's office.
How much money do you spend for blogging lifestyle?
To most of us in Indonesia, it can be "more significant": Internet connection is still expensive in most locations and we have to compensate this hobby using various tricks. Some authors suggested to use Internet connection in office along break time (in Bahasa Indonesia). So, you cut your lunch time about fiveteen to thirty minutes for writing blog. With a hope that blogging is allowed in your office, because some friends have reported that their companies had blocked some blog-oriented sites, following previous similiar rules to mailing list.
Home dial up connection is another alternative. Even it is looked "cheap" for some reasons (I just need Internet connection for short time in a month), maximally we have only 64 kbps. With a hope: less or never disconnect. Actually, this is not real cheap connection: its bytes/rupiahs is high enough. Watch your operating system's dial up panel hour-meter usage.
How about cable connection or ADSL? Not all area has been covered, first. Even in a capital of province. Jakarta is the only exception city to this kind of connection. The price itself is reasonable with a note: when you really need full time connection.
Blogging starts from Internet connection, no matter additional expenses you have to spend later, e.g. domain name or web hosting. That's next discussion.
